Nurses Fired for Making Reels Inside Operation Theatre in Raipur

Three nurses were fired for making reels inside the operation theatre of a government hospital in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and sharing them on social media, officials said on Monday. The nurses, identified as Tripti Dasar, Pushpa Sahu, and Tej Kumari, were seen dancing to popular songs while holding surgical items in their hands in the videos.

The nurses were working as daily wage staff at the Dau Kalyan Singh PG Institute and Research Centre, which is a burn and plastic surgery unit. They allegedly left their posts in the Emergency Medical Department and filmed themselves inside the operation theatre on February 5. The incident came to light after a complaint was filed against them on February 23.

The deputy superintendent of the hospital, Dr Hemant Sharma, said that taking pictures and videos inside operation rooms is against the rules and violates the standards of hygiene and professionalism. He also said that the nurses misbehaved with the ward in charge when she objected to their act. The services of the three nurses were terminated soon after the investigation.

The videos of the nurses dancing inside the operation theatre went viral on social media and drew criticism from the public and the medical fraternity. Many people questioned the safety and quality of the health services at the hospital and demanded strict action against the nurses.
